Free Spirits
Free Spirits is a fanfare for orchestral brass. In 4/4 time, the beat subdivision is in triplets. Prior to the opening theme, the introduction begins with trumpets, then trombones followed by horns playing in unison. I had wanted to do something with open fourths and fifths while studiously avoiding sounding like Star Trek! The syncopated main theme is handled by each section in turn and then the triplet action charges ahead with a classic hunt theme.
